- Hi Jyoti,
Are you sure it's simply "macular degeneration"? My brother was improperly diagnosed with this over-generalized condition for 17 years- from ages 16 to 33- until I was diagnosed with Stargardt's disease at age 29. My retina specialist said calling it MD in a young person was like calling something "food" when what you really mean is "blueberry". He used a dye (fluroscein?) test to confirm his suspicion.
Of course, having a correct diagnosis will not lead you, at least today, to effective treatments, as none exist, but I think it might be worthwhile to get a second opinion from a well reputed RS so that you know you're on the right track in your research.

- Agree with Helene to get a second opinion and also try the diet and meds they recommend and discuss those with his doctor. Go to an Opthamologist(health of the eye) not Optometrist. Best of luck.
