  • Identifying Dry Macular Degeneration Type
  • Posted: 2008-04-29 19:19:08 By Lofton F
  • My doctor thought I had adult vitelliform macular dystrophy. I took a test, negative. Then he thought it may be Bests disease, negative. Then I took a blood test and sent it of to identify some gene abnormality, it didn't. I went to Arizona to take micro current treatment (which I continue at home),no improvement. I'm taking Eye Max vitamins drinking carrot juice yada yada. I'm 54, male. In the last year my vision has dropped to 20/70 in ine eye and 20/200 in the other. Id there anyone out there who knows of anything to arrest/reverse this condition? I haven't been able to find a retinal specialist who can identify what I have (other than a form of dry md) My fathers brother (deceased) had something similar so it may be genetic. Anyway, thanks in advance to anyone who may reply.

  • I know it is hard, not having symptoms until we are all ready damaged and then doctors that don't seem to have the knowledge to advise us.
I went off the deep end and wonder if I will ever get back physically.

    Thanks.
