• Hello! I have been diagnosed with early stage macular degeneration and really care about what you are all going through; I hope to support and hear from you all. My email is psalms5556@yahoo.com; I have been getting Avastin and they said they are successfully stabilizing it before it becomes full stage; I am 46 and they found it very early stages; I need some help understanding this; thanks; I did talk to the nurse of the eye surgeon and it is kind of scary; thanks anyone! • I have received 6 Avastin injections the last one in April 07. My eye has been stable during that period from full blown wet MacDe. I am not symptom free but the Avastin has definitely arrested the progress of the disease. There has been a slight improvement in my distance vision but still some distortion. That's the good news. The bad is that my Dr says histoically the wet will return. When is anyones guess.
  My other eye developed wet MD about 6-7 years ago and was treated with PDT, all that was available at that ime with poor results. I have a large scatoma in that eye and have no central vision. The disease is insidious and close work with a good retina specialist is a must. Immediately report any vison changes and don't go more than 2 months without an exam regardless of how stable your eyes are.
