- Mike, has your vision improved with Truspot? My son is on Azopt Drops. Also, My son is 13 and wants to get a driving permit next year and his vision may not let him drive. Any advice on how to to tell my son about driving? Jim B.

- Hi Jim B,
My visual acuity did not improve but the cysts on the retina are virtually gong. Azopt is a newer version of the same product. Your son should have an OCT to map the retina and measure improvements. It has been reported that the younger the eyes the better the chance of an improvement in acuity by one or two lines. As far as driving, I did drive for a few years when I was in my 20’s using a small telescope attached to my glasses. I recommend that you take you son to a very good low vision specialist. I see Dr Susan Gormezano in Bingham Farms MI. You may want to give her a call for a recommendation in your area. 248-593-3670. It is very possible that he may be able to drive using a vision aid under the care of the right Low Vision Specialist.
Hope thing work out. MikeP

- Hi,
I was just wondering what glasses you used to drive with? I'm in my 20's at the minute and not too far off the standard to drive, but I didn't know you could get glasses with telescopes that were allowed if you know what I mean. Funnily enough my family and I joked about that being the sort of thing that I needed.
Cheers
Dave

- Vision Aids

- Hi Jim B.
I wanted to update you a little more on what I use as far as vision aids. At 52, I currently use a special pair of glasses for working on the computer. The computer glasses help me see the distance to the computer screen but onthing outside that range and they also have a bifocal to help with reading. I also use several hand held lighted magnifiers and have a small 6.5x \ 22D Power Mag to keep in my pocket. My regular glasses have a bifocal for reading and I find that I need the darkening lenses whan outside.
I am learning to use Magic screen magnifier with voice on my computer and I also use a larger 21 inch screen.
My vision in my right eye is too poor so that I do not see anything to the right so I have no posibility of driving but I do ride a bike.
Hope this helps.
