Events Manager - Southern Region
FFB is the largest nongovernmental supporter of retinal degeneration research in the world, dedicated to finding preventions, treatments, and cures for people affected by inherited retinal diseases. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced and organized individual to be part of our team. This position reports directly to the Regional Director of Events and will be located in our Raleigh office.
Specifically this position will:
- Develop, implement and support 8-10 new and existing annual events
- Plan fundraising, Galas, VISIONWALK (our national signature walk-a-thon), and other volunteer led events such as wine tastings, and golf tournaments
- Develop volunteer sponsorships and participation
- Provide day of event support, including evening and weekend events, and minimal travel
- Negotiate contracts with outside vendors
- Oversee fiscal management of events
Requirements:
- Five+ years of paid experience in event planning
- Bachelor’s degree desirable
- Exposure to advertising, publication and promotion development
- Fundraising experience required (walk-a-thon experience desirable)
- A proven track record in special event fundraising and experience with donor databases are musts
- Ability to lead and motivate volunteers
- Proficient use of MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint), desktop publishing and database are required
- Must possess excellent verbal/written communication skills, technology
- Attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines
