Kansas City, KS - VisionWalk 2010

This year’s Kansas City VisionWalk was a chilly 94 degrees compared to last year, and it was a GREAT day! More than 300 participants enjoyed walking around Kauffman Gardens and Theis Park to celebrate our fundraising efforts in support of the Foundation and the critical research it funds. Our teams and families did another amazing job of fundraising. We are still collecting donations over the next month to get as close as we can to our goal.

San Francisco & Silicon Valley, CA - Bay Area VisionWalk 2010

Hundreds of walkers gathered in Golden Gate Park for another beautiful Bay Area VisionWalk day of sunny skies and perfect walk weather. Everyone worked together to raise over $115,000 for sight-saving research and the donations are still coming in!

Philadelphia, PA - Dining in the Dark 2010

The inaugural Philadelphia Dining in the Dark Visionary Awards Dinner was held on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at the Sheraton Philadelphia City Center. The evening honored two visionaries: Stuart L. Fine, M.D., Director Emeritus, Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania and Alan M. Laties, M.D., Harold G. Scheie-Nina C. Mackall Research Professor of Ophthalmology, University of Pennsylvania.

Northern Virginia - VisionWalk 2010

More than 350 participants gathered for the Northern Virginia VisionWalk on Saturday, May 8, 2010. After a rainy morning, the skies opened up just in time for terrific Walk weather at Brown’s Chapel Park in Reston, Virginia.

Raleigh-Durham, NC - 5th Annual Triangle VisionWalk

Over 400 participants braved the heat to join the fight for sight at Lake Lynn Park on Saturday, June 5th. Thank you all so much for your support of the 5th Annual Triangle VisionWalk. Including the donations that came in on Walk day, we have raised over $100,000 and donations are still coming in. Keep checking the website to watch our thermometer rise!

Tamba Bay, FL - Beach Tennis comes to Siesta Key
|
On the white sands of Siesta Key Beach, June 5, 2010, more than 100 pro and amateur athletes participated in the U.S. International Federation of Beach Tennis Tournament 2010 Open Event where a portion of the proceeds benefitted the Foundation Fighting Blindness. Milwaukee, WI - Milwaukee VisionWalk 2010

We could not have asked for a better day or a better VisionWalk on May 23! The weather was picture perfect, and our teams and families helped us reach our goal a week BEFORE Walk day, raising nearly $80,000, which is an amazing accomplishment for all of Milwaukee. There were more than 730 participants who enjoyed a beautiful day on the lakefront to celebrate our fundraising efforts in support of the Foundation and the critical research it funds.

Jacksonville, FL - Jacksonville VisionWalk 2010

Saturday, April 24, 2010 was a beautiful day for the 2nd Annual Jacksonville VisionWalk! Over 400 participants came out to show their support at Freedom Commerce Centre and enjoy snow cones, cotton candy, bounce houses, clown and face painter and refreshments. It was amazing to see the dedication and support for the VisionWalk. Over $58,000 has been raised so far in Jacksonville to help the Foundation Fighting Blindness fund research for retinal degenerative diseases.

Los Angeles, CA - Dining in the Dark Visionary Awards Dinner

The Foundation Fighting Blindness hosted its 2nd Annual Los Angeles Dining in the Dark Visionary Awards Dinner on Tuesday, May 18 at The Beverly Hills Hotel. This year’s dinner honorees, Bartly J. Mondino, M.D., and Bradley R. Straatsma, M.D., J.D., were honored for their commitment to the advancement of science and technology that is driving vital research towards treating and preventing retinal degenerative diseases.
