Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 6th Annual Orange County VisionWalk at California State University - Fullerton! We had over 450 walkers and 36 fantastic teams participate in this year’s VisionWalk to help Foundation Fighting Blindness raise over $72,000 for critical retinal degenerative disease research!

2nd Annual Tampa/St. Petersburg Dining in the Dark Visionary Awards Dinner

On April 27, 2011, the Foundation Fighting Blindness hosted its Second Annual Tampa/St. Petersburg Dining in the Dark Visionary Awards Dinner at the historic Vinoy Resort in St. Petersburg, FL. Dinner Co-Chair, Dr. Kamal Majeed, welcomed over 260 guests who joined us as we honored Ronald L. Vaughn, Ph.D., President of The University of Tampa, and the memory of the late Edie Loebenberg, Co-Founder of the Florida Holocaust Museum for their accomplishments and leadership of the Tampa Bay community.

What an amazing day! Channel 4 News Anchor Staci Spanos welcomed everyone to the 3rd Annual Jacksonville VisionWalk on Saturday, May 21. Over 500 participants came out to show their support at the University of North Florida which is 100 more than last year!

Congratulations on an amazing VisionWalk! On Sunday, May 1st we welcomed nearly 300 walkers at Cypress Grove Park in Orlando. We're still adding money to the website so please stay tuned for our final tally. Our initial estimate is that we have raised over $95,000!

The San Diego Dining in the Dark was held on Wednesday, June 1 at the San Diego Hilton Resort & Spa. Honoree David Eveleth, Ph.D., Vice President & Disease Area Head of Ophthalmology for Pfizer, was recognized for his dedication to eye health and research.

San Francisco Dining in the Dark

The San Francisco Dining in the Dark was held on Tuesday, May 17 at the Palace Hotel. This year’s Visionary Award was presented to the Honorable Willie L. Brown, Jr., the celebrated former Mayor of San Francisco who has retinitis pigmentosa.

More than two years ago, after Davida Luehrs co-founded the Foundation’s Northern Virginia chapter, she asked FFB staff if it would be OK to host a “coffee social,” an informal get-together at a local coffee shop, as a way to bring in new volunteers while allowing retinal-disease sufferers to share their stories.

Gearing up for the Baltimore VisionWalk, 7th grade leader Bjorn Brooks rallied his classmates to support sight-saving research, appearing on ABC 7 News in Washington, D.C., as well as FOX 45 News in Baltimore. The Fashion Ball: Dining in the Dark

On Wednesday, May 25, nearly 300 guests from the NYC fashion industry gathered at the Ritz-Carlton in Battery Park for the inaugural Fashion Ball: Dining in the Dark to honor fashion visionaries who have supported FFB’s urgent mission to drive research that will lead to preventions, treatments and cures for people affected by the spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases.
