Cell Collection to Study Retinal Degenerative Diseases: National Eye Institute (NEI)
|
Description: Researchers are collecting cells from 25 people with Best disease, 50 with age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and 25 with a dominant retinal disease known as late-onset retinal degeneration (L-ORD), comparing their cells with those of 75 healthy volunteers. The investigators are collecting hair, skin, and blood samples — inducing them to become stem cells and then retinal cells — to study how these diseases affect the retina.
