On April 18, 2013, the Wisconsin Chapter welcomed two doctors from the University of Wisconsin – Madison at the John D. Wiley Conference Center. Dr. David Gamm presented "An Emerging Tool in the Fight Against RP: Human-Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells.” Dr. Gamm is Director of the McPherson Eye Research Institute, Pediatric Ophthalmologist, and Investigator in the Waisman Center Stem Cell Research Program. He discussed stem cell technology and the help it provides patients with a retinal degenerative disease.
Sharing the podium with Dr. Gamm was Dr. Barbara Blodi, who presented "Investigational Treatments for Dry Macular Degeneration." Dr. Blodi is a medical retina specialist in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. She presented the latest clinical research on dry macular degeneration and chances for a cure.
