It is hard to believe that the holidays are right around the corner. We had lots of activity this fall and more to come in December. Our second Presentation Series was Saturday, October 20th. The topic was Adaptive Technology for Windows users. Tennessee Access Center (TAC) shared all the adaptive technology ranging from hand-held magnifiers to full-screen readers. It was fascinating. Even though I am a Mac user, I realized how very much is out there for all the different degrees of vision loss. Thank you TAC for coming out and spending your morning with us.
On Saturday, November 3rd, I had the privilege of speaking at the Tennessee Organization of Deaf-Blind (TODB) Statewide Meeting in Chattanooga. My husband, Glenn, and I had a wonderful time. We truly enjoyed the warm welcome and the fun fellowship. I look forward to working with TODB again in the near future
This past Saturday, November 10th, we had our first Coping Caring Sharing (CCS) gathering. We had a good turn out that included new faces. We welcomed folks from as far as Chattanooga, TN. We hope to see your faces again very soon. We had a wonderful facilitator as well. His aunt, who is a chapter member, is affected by RP so he definitely feels strongly about helping his aunt as well as others affected by all retinal degenerative diseases.
Now, mark your calendars for Saturday, December 15th. We are hosting a holiday gathering. Hope everyone can join us. We will provide more details very soon so watch your email and check back here as we won't be able to send an announcement via the mail.
Well, better close for now. I appreciate all that each of you do for our chapter. I look forward to seeing you on December 15. I also am looking forward to a very good year for our chapter in 2013. Be sure to save the date for our 7th Annual Nashville VisionWalk on April 20, 2013. I would like to thank Susan and Jimmy Freeze for serving as our VisionWalk chairs for VisionWalk 2013. Oh, before I forget, if you have any suggestions, comments, or you just want to chat, please feel free to send me an email at
