 Welcome to the Las Vegas Chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
I am Vickie Essner and I have been involved with our Las Vegas chapter since its onset in 2007, founded by Lee Weiss! I’m excited about being the chapter president, to share my knowledge, talents and experience with all those I serve! Those who know me, know that my passion is to assist others with disabilities. I have been visually impaired from an early age, and personally know the challenges one faces on a daily basis. I live the “CAN DO” philosophy and dedicate my life to serving/teaching others.
Our group is one of the many chapters of volunteers throughout the United States raising funds to find a cure and treatment for retinal degenerative diseases and providing support to individuals and families in our community affected by these conditions. We had a very successful 4th Annual Vision Walk in November, for which I have been involved in from the beginning and seen, grow…and the contributions are still coming in! With support from the Foundation Fighting Blindness, we host regularly scheduled chapter meetings, support groups, and social events. Dollars raised in Las Vegas for Foundation Fighting Blindness are supporting these efforts and creating a sense of hope and optimism for the future.
We are also working to build public awareness of retinal diseases and the more than 10 million men, women and children coping with retinitis pigmentosa, Stargardt disease, Usher syndrome, age-related macular degeneration, and other retinal diseases. Many volunteers are needed in many different capacities I invite you to contact me and join our Las Vegas Chapter!
