Welcome to the Oregon Chapter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
We are a volunteer-led group driven to provide information, education and support to individuals and families living with retinal degenerative diseases. Our chapter goals are threefold: to raise public awareness of the Foundation Fighting Blindness and its mission; to provide support and information about retinal degenerative diseases to the community; and to support the fundraising efforts of FFB to drive research for preventions, treatments, and cures for all retinal diseases.
With support from the Foundation Fighting Blindness, we host regularly scheduled chapter meetings, support groups, and social events. FFB has funded thousands of studies at hundreds of prominent institutions around the world, including the Casey Eye Institute in Portland.
Our chapter connects local low vision support services within the community to those who are seeking help and guidance. Over the past year, chapter members have been introduced to: low vision specialists, mobility instructors, and social service providers. We connect people with resources to help simplify their daily living. These resources include: transportation options, cooking aids, communication tools, mobile adaptive technology, and travel techniques using a cane, guide dogs and sighted guides. Our chapter connects people with people who can help.
Chapter meetings are free and open to everyone. The information provided at each meeting is invaluable, but equally important are the friendships and community support that develop.
We are fortunate to have an active and engaged chapter board that carries the spirit of FFB’s Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board, Gordon Gund. His vision is our vision: We will save and restore sight by funding vital research.
We’d love to hear from you and we welcome your participation in the FFB Oregon Chapter. Sign-up today and start receiving chapter meeting announcements and updates. We are here to help.
