Celebrating Excellence

Outstanding New Trustees Jody Kelly and Donna Burke Tehaan with Mrs. America 2011 April Lufriu at the VISIONS 2012 Awards Dinner. Outstanding New Trustees Jody Kelly and Donna Burke Tehaan with Mrs. America 2011 April Lufriu at the VISIONS 2012 Awards Dinner.

Donna Burke Tehaan and Jody Kelly were presented with the Foundation’s Member Excellence Outstanding New Trustee Award at the VISIONS 2012 national conference in Minneapolis in June. The honor recognizes their notable contributions and sustained commitment to the Foundation’s mission during the early years of trusteeship. Trustees since the spring of 2011, Donna and Jody have worked hand in hand to generate nearly $1 million for sight-saving research. They’ve chaired several successful fundraising events, including the Northern Virginia Dining in the Dark twice and VisionWalks in both Northern Virginia/DC and Montgomery County. They also travel to Dining in the Dark events around the country to support the Foundation’s mission.

The Montgomery County Chapter Highlights

The Montgomery County Chapter has a terrific group of people that give their time and talent as chapter leaders and we welcome everyone to participate at this level!

Striving to increase our membership and support of the Foundation Fighting Blindness is our goal. This is a group that believes that a cure is in sight and is motivated to work to raise funds to make the research happen even faster!

The chapter will hold two general chapter meetings a year and an annual VisionWalk. Our leadership meetings will be held every other month to discuss our progress in the three main areas of chapter development: membership, public awareness and fundraising.

It is very important to get the word out about FFB and our local chapter as often as we can! It’s a great way to recruit interest, new members and yes, supporters of our sight-saving research efforts.

New chapter members are always welcome!
