Foundation Fighting Blindness becomes Talk of the Town
Jason Morris, trustee and St. Louis Chapter President, and Cassie Blackwell, St. Louis Chapter leader, recently had the opportunity of increasing awareness of FFB through St. Louis’ local radio station, 106-5 The Arch.
Jason and Cassie met with radio host Rick Wallace to discuss the cause, success and involvement of FFB. Both Jason and Cassie have children with Retinitis Pigmetosa.
According to Jason, “ as is the case with all of our outreach opportunities, I try to make the most of each one because you never know who may be listening. The hope is to get as much exposure as possible to make the FFB a household name.”

Celebrating Excellence

The St. Louis Chapter was presented with the Foundation’s Member Excellence Outstanding Chapter Award at the VISIONS 2012 national conference in Minneapolis in June. The honor, which recognizes sustained high achievement of a chapter, acknowledges the strong leadership of Chapter President Jason Morris and his wife Leslie, Foundation National Trustees Bill James and Jack Wiedmer, among other dedicated volunteers. The chapter has grown to be a powerful fundraising and support network through events like the Dining in the Dark and VisionWalk, which have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in recent years, engaged the local sports community, and united people with low-vision challenges to come together in support of research. Congratulations to all of the chapter leaders and members!
Chapter VP of Fundraising Bob Morris discusses the Foundation’s impact on the “Ear to Ear” program on Minds Eye Information Service, a local radio reading service that serves the area’s visually impaired community. Listen to his interview.
