Bausch + Lomb has been a proud supporter of the Foundation Fighting Blindness and the drive to find preventions and cures for people affected with retinal degenerative diseases. 2012 marked their 3rd year participating in the St. Louis VisionWalk and exceeded their personal fundraising goal by raising more than $2,000.00; along with being a corporate sponsor. Their team consisted of 20 walkers, including family and friends of Bausch + Lomb employees.
According to Michelle Joseph, External Manufacturing Business Unit Leader of Bausch + Lomb, “The St. Louis Bausch + Lomb facility heard about the VisionWalk and was eager to join in and support the community in which we operate. As a team, we work together to live our mission: Helping you see better to live better”. Michelle herself has been involved with the VisionWalk and Foundation Fighting Blindness for over 5 years. Her grandmother was diagnosed 12 years ago, at the age of 78, with AMD.
In regards to the 2012 VisionWalk, “It was a fantastic way to start our Sunday. We arrived early to set up a tent and proudly display the Bausch + Lomb logo. It was great to talk to participants before the walk and discuss some of the advances that our Vitreoretinal Surgery and Pharmaceutical products have made impacting retinal degenerative disease treatments”. The team also enjoyed visiting with Fredbird, the St. Louis Rams Cheerleaders, and even doing Jazzercise exercises in preparation for the walk. “The team had a great time that day helping to spread the word, encourage engagement, focus on team building, and supporting our community.”
We’re excited to announce that the Bausch + Lomb team will again be participating in the 2013 VisionWalk. “We very much are looking forward to participating in the 7th annual VisionWalk. The Bausch + Lomb team is gearing up to participate and is planning several fundraising events in preparation for the day.”
Foundation Fighting Blindness becomes Talk of the Town
Jason Morris, trustee and St. Louis Chapter President, and Cassie Blackwell, St. Louis Chapter leader, recently had the opportunity of increasing awareness of FFB through St. Louis’ local radio station, 106-5 The Arch.
Jason and Cassie met with radio host Rick Wallace to discuss the cause, success and involvement of FFB. Both Jason and Cassie have children with Retinitis Pigmetosa.
According to Jason, “ as is the case with all of our outreach opportunities, I try to make the most of each one because you never know who may be listening. The hope is to get as much exposure as possible to make the FFB a household name.”
