A Commitment to Everyone’s Vision

For Sue Healy and the team of eye care professionals at My Eye Dr., supporting the Foundation’s VisionWalk program in Northern Virginia was a completely natural thing to do. The full-service eye care company prides itself in not only delivering high quality products and services, but also serving as many people in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C., community as possible. Raising money for the Foundation Fighting Blindness was a great way to support people with retinal degenerative diseases who are counting on innovative research to save their vision.

“We want to make a difference in the lives of all people living with vision loss and their families,” says Sue, president of My Eye Dr., and co-chair of the 2009 Northern Virginia VisionWalk. “Our business model is to take care of as many people as we can. It’s a strong commitment for us.”

The My Eye Dr. team’s commitment to VisionWalk fundraising was quite impressive. In their first year, 2009, they brought in more than $26,000. “We had a great time,” says Sue. “The day was gorgeous, and there was a high level of energy among the walkers who were all so passionate about the cause.”

The local community has recognized both Sue and My Eye Dr. for their outstanding service and commitment to their customers. Sue is the 2009 recipient of the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce “Spirit of Free Enterprise” award, and My Eye Dr. was a finalist for the Chamber’s “Emerging Business of the Year” award.

She looks forward to the 2012 Northern Virginia VisionWalk.
