Dear FFB Supporter!
Welcome to the Eastern Michigan Chapter of FFB! Our goal as chapter leaders is help fundraise for research, educate the region about retinal degenerative diseases, and provide a sense of community and hope for those who are dealing with the loss of vision.
Originally formed in the early 1980s, the Eastern Michigan Chapter is one of the Foundation’s longest standing volunteer chapters. In the beginning, the Chapter’s primary function was to provide support groups for its membership. Since that time, the group has also held informational meetings, conducted small fundraisers, produced newsletters, and much more. Last year we held our 15th Award winning Celebration For Sight dinner & auction. This year we will put this event on hold as we focus our talents on VisionWalk and other smaller fundraising events.
The Eastern Michigan Chapter currently holds three information meetings per year where attendees can learn about the current state of research, clinical trials, genetics, services for the visually impaired, and much more. In addition to meetings, we continue to sells holiday cards in the fall. FFB’s first VisionWalk in the Detroit area in 2007 was a huge success, raising over $100,000 for research. This will continue to be an annual Springtime event in the Detroit Metro Area.
This site contains additional information about each of the Chapter’s activities. If you have any questions after reviewing this material, please do not hesitate to get in touch with any of the people on the Chapter contact list. We are not only here to raise money for research, but we are also here to help. If we cannot answer your questions directly, we will do everything we can to help you to find the answers for which you are looking.
We are also continually looking for new volunteers to help with Chapter activities. There are always more services to provide and more fundraisers to organize than we have volunteers to staff. I promise that we strive to keep the fun in fundraising. We have a great team of volunteers and you will not find a better support mechanism for yourself than active participation.
With your help, there is a cure in sight!
Sincerely,
Julie Kusku
