Celebrating Excellence

National Trustee Scott Burt accepting the Chapter Momentum Award on behalf of the Denver Chapter, from Mrs. America 2011 April Lufriu. |
The Denver Chapter was presented with the Foundation’s Member Excellence Chapter Momentum Award at the VISIONS 2012 national conference in Minneapolis in June. The honor, which recognizes significant improvement of a chapter, acknowledges the group’s momentum and success. Through strong events such as the Colorado 5K VisionWalk, Denver Scramble for Sight golf tournament, and Blind Taste of the Rockies, the chapter has raised nearly $2 million for vision-saving retinal research to date. Chapter leaders have also worked closely with Walmart stores in the area to implement the Save Your Vision Month program, engaging associates in the fight against blindness who are committed to helping their community. Congratulations to all of the chapter leaders and members!
Recent Highlights:
The 2012 Blind Taste of the Rockies and Scramble for Sight
Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Blind Taste of the Rockies on June 20th & Scramble for Sight on the 21st. Because of your support, the events raised over $92,000 to help fund sight-saving research. Including over $44,000 from Arrow & their vendors – WOW!
Not only did everyone enjoy some great food and drinks from the local Denver restaurants, but we also had a great golf tournament (don’t worry, we already requested no wind for next year)! I don’t know about you, but I’m already looking forward to all the goodies that will be served up next year.
Special thanks to Carmen & Scott for their continued dedication and leadership of these events and all of our sponsors including Arrow Electronics, Emerson Network Power, Toshiba, Integro, Advantech, HP, Crucial, RadiSys, Charles Schwab & Tek Systems. And we can’t forget Strange Brewing Company & The Vineyard Wine Shop for providing the beverages at the Blind Taste and all the great food vendors.
See ya next year!
