Spring Valley Library Conference Room
4280 S. Jones Blvd.
Las Vegas, NV  89103

Registration at 10:30 am; Program begins at 11:00 am
Guest Speakers: Dr. Irene Voo & Raquel O’Neill

Irene Voo, M.D. is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist and Retina Specialist who specializes in diseases of the retina and vitreous.  For decades, the Foundation Fighting Blindness has been funding the development of gene therapies for various retinal diseases, including what Dr. Voo will discuss. Gene therapy has improved the vision of most of the 100 people with RPE65 mutations, which lead to blindness from retinitis pigmentosa and Leber congenital amaurosis.  The therapy developer will soon be seeking approval for the treatment from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. If approved, it could be the first eye-disease gene therapy offered in the marketplace.

Raquel O’Neill has bachelor and master of social work degrees and serves as the Disability Resource Center's interim director at UNLV. Learn about the tools you and your loved ones need to bring down barriers and make all things possible through independence, empowerment and success.
Questions and answer session will follow the presentations.

We will also be previewing our 9th Annual Las Vegas VisionWalk to be held on November 5, 2016!
